چکیده
351 A seven‐year‐old male patient with sudden onset loss of vision in the left eye immediately after blunt trauma to the left eye following a fall from stairs presented to us three days after the trauma. History of epistaxis was present, although there was no history of loss of consciousness, vomiting, or convulsions. On examination, the left eye had a subconjunctival hemorrhage. Orbital emphysema was absent. The anterior segment examination and intraocular pressure of both eyes was normal. The patient had sustained a closed globe injury (CGI) with no full thickness defect in the cornea or sclera. Direct pupillary light reflex in the left eye and consensual reflex in the right eye were absent. Ocular movements were normal; there was no proptosis or enophthalmos on the left side. Vision was 6/6 in the right eye and no perception of light (NPL) in the left eye. Fundus of the right eye was normal. Fundus of the left eye showed whitening of the retina, segmentation of blood columns in the vessels with cherry red spot and blood “spurting out” from the Acute Vision Loss Due to Central Retinal Arterial Occlusion, Partial Optic Nerve Avulsion, and Hemorrhage “Spurting Out” from Optic Disc after Blunt Trauma

Traumatic Optic Neuropathy and Central Retinal Artery Occlusion Following Blunt Ocular Trauma
UNLABELLED We present a case as a rare sign of traumatic optic neuropathy and central retinal artery occlusion following blunt ocular trauma. A 10-year-old child suffered complete loss of the vision of one eye following a blunt ocular injury. He sustained an occlusion of the central retinal artery and traumatic optic neurupathy of the affected eye. Isolated cases of central retinal vessel occlu...

A 40-year-old man presented with painless sudden visual loss due to a central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) in his right eye. Three months later, he had painless acute visual loss in his left eye with visual acuity of 20/100 and a swollen optic disc. After oral prednisone treatment, the disc swelling resolved and acuity recovered to 20/20. Five months later, the patient experienced another ep...

A 15yearold boy suffered from blunt trauma to the left eyebrow (Figure 1A arrow). Three hours after the trauma, he had a visual acuity (VA) of no light perception (NLP) in the left eye. Relative afferent pupillary defect was positive in the left eye. The intraocular pressure of each eye was 15 mm Hg. Anterior segment examination results were unremarkable. Funduscopic examination results were no...
متن کاملOptic nerve avulsion after blunt ocular trauma - Case report.
INTRODUCTION Avulsion of the optic nerve head is a rare and severe complication of ocular blunt trauma. The case reported is a 28-year old man presenting to the emergency department due to blunt trauma to his right eye globe with a tree branch. Lid haematoma and subconjunctival haemorrhage were present. Visual acuity soon after the injury was counting fingers (CF) and on admission to the Depart...
متن کاملClinical characteristics of nonglaucomatous optic disc cupping
Pathological optic disc cupping (ODC) is predominantly referred to as glaucoma; however, it is not only glaucoma that leads to pathological optic disc excavation. A number of other nonglaucomatous diseases also result in optic atrophy and excavation of the optic disc. Therefore, in the present study, the etiology of nonglaucomatous optic disc cupping (NGODC) was analyzed and differentiated from...
